SETTING UP OUTLOOK EXPRESS: 1. Open Outlook Express 2. On the menu, choose Tools 3. From the Tools submenu, choose Accounts 4. A small popup box will appear. To the right of the box you should see buttons to Add, Remove, Properties, Set as Default, etc. Click ADD, then choose Mail. 5. Here you can choose how your name will appear in the "From" field when people see your messages. This can be anything - I use "Kira," for example. You can use Svetlana, or your full name, or whetever you wish. When done, click NEXT. 6. Now you're asked for your email address. Type: svetlana@aurorapublishers.com Then click NEXT. 7. You are now asked for the incoming and outgoing email servers. Use the following info to complete this section: Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server. Incoming mail server is: mail.aurorapublishers.com The SMTP server for outgoing email is: mail.bellsouth.net 8. This is where you add your login info, i.e. the account name and password. Yours are as follows: Account Name: svetlana@aurorapublishers.com Password: grapette NOTE: you can change this if you wish. Instructions on how to do this are below. For now, leave as-is. Make sure that the box by "Remember password" is checked. Do NOT check the box by "Use Secure Password Authentication." Now click NEXT. 9. You should now be done, so click "Finish." However, there are a few more tweaks necessary. So, still in the small popup box, click once on the new account you just created, then on the right side of the box click the "Properties" button. 10. There are five tabs at the top of this new mini-window: General, Servers, Connection, Security and Advanced. On the first General panel, check the box by "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing." (It may already be checked, in which case, don't click it again.) Fill in the "Reply" address with your email address, svetlana@aurorapublishers.com . 11. Now click the "Servers" tab. The only thing you should need to do here is to check the box by "My server requires authentication." Now click OK to save and close this box. You can now try to send a test email to yourself or someone else. If these settings don't work, you may need to contact BellSouth/ATT customer service to learn what settings you should use. Good luck! ---------------------- CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD ---------------------- 1) Once you're online, open your browser and go to this URL: http://www.aurorapublishers.com/webmail 2) A login box will pop up asking for your email address and password. Type: email: svetlana@aurorapublishers.com password: grapette Then click "OK" 3) You'll be taken to a page that offers you two different webmail programs to choose from (see below for more about webmail), and also offers you a few menu options including changing your password and setting up an email forward. To change your password, click on the link that says "Change Password." IMPORTANT: If you do change your password here, of course you'll need to go back to Outlook Express and click Tools/Accounts to configure your mail account and change the password there, too. ---------------------- USING YOUR WEBMAIL PROGRAM ---------------------- Your new domain account includes a webmail program, which allows you to check your email from your browser wherever you are. This webmail box will give you an alternative if, for whatever reason, you don't have access to Outlook Express and need to send emails through your aurorapublishers.com address. 1) Once you're online, open your browser and go to this URL: http://www.aurorapublishers.com/webmail 2) A login box will pop up asking for your email address and password. "Horde" is more complex but offers more features. Note that this page is also where you can change your password. To do so, click on the link that says "Change Password." If you do change your password here, of course you'll need to go back to Outlook Express and click Tools/Accounts to configure your mail account and change the password there, too. 4) Once you click on Squirrelmail or Horde, you'll be taken to your webmail inbox, and you should see any new emails that have been sent to you. You can compose a new message, reply to the old messages, delete things ... all the basic email functions are here. You can click on "Options" to configure the mail program as you prefer. And that's it! Once you're done you can click on "Logout" (in Horde) or "Sign Out" (in Squirrelmail).
